2011 NEWS:

The last tournament of the season the 5th grade team competed in the "Best of the Best" tournament at PA's Competitive Edge; won all their games and brought home the chip!

The 5th graders had an outstanding showing at Hoop Group's June Showdown winning the championship game. Austin Laughlin earned MVP honors for the tournament!

Team NJABC's 5th grade team traveled down to the DC Assault Tournament and surprised many by winning their pool and advancing all the way to the semi-finals. The 5th graders battled hard in the semi-final game, but fell short against a tough Banneker Kings team.

After winning their pool in the MAD qualifying round, the 5th grade team competed in the MAD Final 4 semi-final against the Philly Legends and defeated them by 28 points to move on to the championship game against Team Final. Austin Laughlin, a new addition to Team NJABC dropped in a mere 19 pts and Ryan Conde contributed a solid 16 in the win. In the championship game against Team Final, Team NJABC came out fierce with a 10-0 run. Team Final clawed back to bring the game within 4 points in the first quarter, but it was all Team NJABC the rest of the way. The 5th graders defeated Team Final 70-43 and earned a bid to the AAU Nationals in Cocoa Beach this July. Kadian Dawkins and Ryan Conde both contributed 12 points and Jalen Gaffney had the team high 13 pts in the win.

Congratulations goes out to the 5th grade team who had a terrific weekend at Hoop Group's May Showdown winning their pool, playing in the championship game and once again bringing home the chip! David Coit was honored as the u11 MVP!

Saturday, April 16th the 5th grade team competed in the Mid Atlantic Division pool round for AAU. The team was scheduled for 3 games. Their first game was won by forfeit. The second game was an almost flawless game; scoring 84 points with all players playing well and contributing to a 63 point victory. The last game of the day was a knock-down, get back up and play game. Philly Freedon and Team NJABC exchanged leads multiple times, however the Freedom got the best of Team NJABC in the third & 4th qtr pulling ahead by double digits. With 3 min left in the game, Team NJABC clawed back from an 11 point deficit to come within 3 points with 9 sec left in the game. David Coit Jr put up a bank three pointer that went in with 2 seconds left putting the game into over-time. Over-time went back and forth, but with the will of Coach AD and the players playing together like a well-oiled machine the 5th graders defeated Philly Freedom 64 - 62! One of the best games Team NJABC has played this season!

April 9-10 the 5th grade team competed in the Extreme Showdown at TCNJ. The team had a great tournament, won all games and brought home the championship!

The 5th graders went 5/5 in Backcourt Hoops King of Prussia Tournament, dominating the competition and bringing home a championship!

The 5th grade team competed in Hoop Group's Tournament of Champions, winning their pool and eventually advancing to the championship but losing to a tough King Street King's team.

Team NJABC's 5th grade team competed in Basketball Spotlight's AC Tournament; winning their pool by an average of 37 pts per game, but unfortuantely falling short in the quarter-finals against a good Delaware Royalty team.

Congratulations are already in order as Team NJABC 4th & 5th graders won their first tournament of the season at the Monroe Sports Center!

2010 NEWS:

Players Jalen Gaffney, Dave Coit, Kadian Dawkins, Ezra Jones & Justin Cort; along with other players from other programs earned Championship Honors winning two summer tournaments in Brooklyn this year: Conrad McCrae Tournament & St John's Rec Tournament. Kadian Dawkins earned the Championship Game MVP & Jalen Gaffney took home the tournament Sportsmanship Award! Coach AD Gaffney has these youngsters playing together well and look forward to fall training and AAU Basketball early in 2011!

Team NJABC players attended many Basketball Camps this summer including Hoop Group Elite, Rider University Camp, Sharp Shooters & St Anthony's Basketball Camp.

CONGRATULATIONS to the u9/u10 team for winning the Hoop Group's Spring Showdown I Championship! And CONGRATULATIONS to Ezra Jones on earning the MVP award!

The u10 team pulled out all the stops in coming from behind and defeating Flemington at Hoop Group's Tournament of Champions in overtime, 74 - 72, advancing and then easily defeating DC Assault to win the TOC u10 championship! Jalen Gaffney dropped in 32 points against Flemington and was named to the TOC All Tournament Team!

Team NJ ABC's u10 team attended Basketball Spotlight's AC Showcase over Easter weekend this year and defeated CBC, Natural Ballers and the 2010 NJ State Champs Playtime in overtime to win their pool! The boys worked very hard during this tournament, surprising many spectators. Unfortunately giving in to the Maryland Spartans by 5 in the semi-final game. Ezra Jones scored 25 points in the victory over Playtime.
